“A
plea by Alex Salmond for Scottish ex pats to visit their homeland in 2009 did
not go unnoticed by a group of musicians from the Dumfries area, and from a tiny
garage studio they have produced a stirring anthem aimed at bringing them home
in droves.
The anthem is called SCOTIA RUN, written and
recorded by local artistes and musicians from Thornhill and the surrounding
area, collectively known as Scotia.
Sound engineer Chris Lord of Hunkpapa Productions
said: ‘The Scottish leader's rallying call was music to our ears, so we decided
to do something about it. We wanted to reawaken the Celtic passions which flow
through the generations of ex-pats. He said that he is proud to have produced a
song that promotes the beauties of Scotland’
